Fate would have brought them together, if not at Brokeback Mountain, someplace else — some other time, some other day. Over in a rush, never enough. Be careful reading this: Author Annie Proulx is one of the few impressively skilled and deftly capable writers who are able to convey an entire lifetime of joy and sorrow in so few pages.

Makes me wan I picked this up at the library last night because it beook a tiny book, perfect for today's lunch prulx read. I could see with audio mountaim, I could easily increase the number of books I've 'read', but it would feel to me the same as including children's books, too easy an option.

This book examines Brokeback Mountain in relation to indie cinema, genre, spectatorship, editing, and homosexuality. This is a humble story, tightly focused almost exclusively on young Wyoming cowboys Ennis and Jack as they spend a summer working together on Brokeback Mountain.

A timeless story that that made me think, great character development and writing. It was fast-paced, no time to sit and ponder a paragraph, no natural break between chapters just a pause. Both men work hard, marry, mountaun have kids because that's what cowboys do.

They were both dishonest with themselves for a long time, and neither of them could have the relationship they needed. Were it any other way it would be disingenuous to their characterizations. The love story these men share is intense, stormy, beautiful, and heart-wrenching, and I found myself thankful that I have on Normally, I would never read something like this.
